Pattern Copyright & Selling Policy (Quick Guide)

  • You MAY sell finished items: You are warmly welcome to sell finished handmade items you personally create using Clara Makes patterns. Please credit Clara Makes (claramakes.com) as the designer.
  • You CANNOT redistribute the written pattern: You may not copy, reproduce, alter, translate, redistribute, or resell the written pattern, charts, stitch guides, or downloadable PDFs in any format.
  • Use your own photos: You must take your own photos to promote and sell your finished handmade items. Using Clara Makes official photography is strictly prohibited.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Clara Makes (the “Website”, available at https://claramakes.com), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be legally bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any portion of these terms, please do not use our website or download our patterns.

2. Intellectual Property Rights & Pattern License

All content published on Clara Makes—including but not limited to crochet patterns, amigurumi designs, stitch tutorials, written instructions, diagrams, photography, graphics, and the Clara Makes logo—is the exclusive intellectual property of Clara Makes and is protected by United States and international copyright laws.

A. Permitted Uses

  • Printing one copy of our free patterns and stitch guides for your own personal, non-commercial crafting use.
  • Selling finished products that you personally hand-crochet from our patterns in small, handmade quantities, provided you include design credit stating: “Pattern designed by Clara Makes (https://claramakes.com)”.
  • Sharing pattern links and saving pins to Pinterest, provided links direct back to the original Clara Makes tutorial webpage.

B. Prohibited Uses

  • Copying, reproducing, distributing, re-posting, or reselling any written pattern instructions, PDFs, stitch diagrams, or video tutorials on any website, blog, social media group, or marketplace (e.g., Etsy, Ravelry, Facebook).
  • Translating our patterns into other languages for public dissemination without express prior written permission.
  • Using Clara Makes photography or branded images to sell your own handmade products or supply kits.
  • Mass-producing commercial quantities through factory manufacturing or automated machinery using our designs.

3. Craft Safety & Amigurumi Notice

Crochet and handmade crafts involve materials such as yarn, metal or wooden hooks, scissors, and small parts:

  • Safety Eyes Warning: Plastic safety eyes used in amigurumi plushies pose a potential choking hazard for infants and children under 3 years old. For baby and toddler makes, we strongly advise embroidering facial features using yarn instead of plastic safety eyes.
  • Supervision: Children crafting or playing with handmade crochet toys should always be supervised by an adult.
  • Ergonomics: Practice proper posture and take frequent breaks to prevent repetitive strain injuries (RSI) during long crafting sessions.

4. Accuracy of Patterns & Tutorials

While every effort is made to ensure our crochet patterns, stitch counts, and yarn estimates are accurate and rigorously tested, crafting results may vary due to individual differences in crochet tension, gauge, yarn dye lots, and material substitutions. Clara Makes does not guarantee that your project will look identical to the photographed samples.

We welcome questions and kind interactions in our comment sections. We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or delete any comments that:

  • Contain hateful, defamatory, obscene, or abusive language.
  • Promote unsolicited commercial advertising, affiliate links, or spam.
  • Infringe upon the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
