Construction Overview

The cardigan is worked in 5 main pieces: one Back Panel, two Front Panels (Left and Right), and two Sleeves worked flat and seamed. The ribbed hem, cuffs, and front button band are added directly to the assembled body.

Back Panel: Ch 72 (80, 88, 96, 104, 112, 120). Work in alternating rows of Half Double Crochet and Moss Stitch until piece measures 24 inches from cast-on. Fasten off.
Front Panels (Make 2): Work identically to back panel with half the stitch count, forming a clean vertical drape.
Sleeves (Make 2): Start with 5.0 mm hook for ribbed cuff (ch 10 in BLO sc for 30 rows). Switch to 6.0 mm hook, working along the edge with gradual increases every 4th row to create a gentle balloon sleeve.
Assembly & Collar: Seam shoulders with mattress stitch. Attach sleeves flat, then seam side and sleeve in one continuous seam. Pick up stitches along the front collar to add 2 inches of ribbed trim with 4 buttonholes.
